If you choose a higher difficulty level, then the enemy (there can be from 2 to 5) will initially have more resources and several buildings built. You start playing as a major feudal lord who is trying to gain power among all other feudal lords with the same amount of initial resources. Germany, England, France, Italy are lost in the original turn-based strategy maps.
